INTERNATIONAL NAURYZ
~ NAURYZ ~ - (Nauryz Meyrami) - non-religious Kazakh folk celebration of the vernal (spring) equinox and of the symbolic renewal of nature. It is believed that it originates from ancient Mesopotamia. In Babylon the New Year was celebrated on the 21st day of the month of Nissanu (corresponding to March-April) with festivities held further 12 days, each commemorated with individual rites, amusements and performances.
At its core, the Nauryz festival celebrates the awakening of Nature. This awakening symbolizes the triumph of good, the Spring, winning against the evil forces of darkness that are represented by the Winter. Nauriz is the point when the oppressive presence of the cold Winter finally begins to retrieve with the commencement of the lively and hopeful Spring. This symbolic and poetic change corresponds to the mathematical instance of the sun leaving the zodiac of Pisces and entering the zodiacal sign of Aries, also known as the Spring Equinox.

Donation: This year's charity event will help to raise money for The Urals Orphans Foundation which is supporting Children Homes in Russia
Tickets: £10 - before 18th September
£15 - before 25th September
£20 - on the door
Urals Orphans Foundation supports children who live in forgotten rural areas of the Urals (Russia) in children’s homes. The area is looked after by a regional co-ordinator, who monitors the children homes on a weekly basis and identifies their needs. It’s usually something very essential, such as shoes, coats, pens and paper. The co-ordinator then sends the request back to London where money is raised and sent back to the Urals. The co-ordinator uses this money to purchase everything that the Children Homes need and deliver it personally. Currently, Urals Orphans Foundation supports 6 orphanages throughout the year and helps out another 4 as much as funds permit. During the year, urgent requests also come through from other ad hoc orphanages and some hospitals in the region.
We all know that the recession has brought even the largest enterprises to their knees. In such a difficult economic climate, charitable donations are minimal. That’s why Russians in UK has decided to step in. How can we ask parentless children to pay for the speculative mistakes made in the largest cities in the world?
What do we need?
Russians in UK needs to raise ?20,000 for the Urals Orphans Foundation. We are looking to help 400 children from the orphanages that we currently support and also give aid to another 300 children from other orphanages in the region. The money will be raised through:
